Many nutrition specialists prefer the citrate form of zinc over all other types of zinc compound because this material is known to be readily absorbed. Zinc is important for tissue formation and the proper metabolism of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. Zinc citrate is offered as a white to almost white powder. It is practically odorless and slightly soluble in water.
