Potassium Chloride KCl Substitute

In the USA, UAE, Iran Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and other oil producing areas, several hundred chemical compounds are used in hydraulic fracturing also called fracking, fracing or frac. In some areas like UK only 'Non-Hazardous' chemicals are permitted for fracturing fluids by the Environment Agency. All chemicals have to be declared publicly and increasingly, food additive based chemicals are available to allow fracking to take place safely.

Mubychem is an internationally preferred source for Stimulation Chemicals and Hydraulic Fracturing Chemicals. We serve various oil and shale gas producing countries like USA UAE, Kuwait, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, UK, Europe India etc. We are never too far from your well-site with multiple 24/7 company owned or rented warehouses in the India, USA and across the globe. With customers in several countries, we sell almost all the fracturing chemicals.

In general, most of all petroleum reservoirs contain clay/shale minerals and it is of importance to protect the water sensitive clays from becoming a damaging threat to permeability via swelling or migration. These clays are trapped into the reservoir matrix and when exposed to water. To a treatment fluid without protection swelling (plugging pores) and migrating-dispersing throughout the reservoir happens, resulting in production loss.

KCl-Sub-64™ is an excellent KCl Substitute that works as a Clay Stabilizer by inhibiting clay swellings and mitigation. It performance is guaranteed by exemplary results in Capillary Suction Tests and Roller Oven Testing.

KCL-SUB-64™ is a liquid product designed specifically for use as a replacement for solid potassium chloride (KCl).  KCL-SUB-64™ offers superior performance at a lower cost -- without the handling, mixing and disposal problems associated with bag KCl. Because KCL-SUB-64™ is non-surface active, it does not effect wet-ability, create foaming problems, or cause emulsions. KCL-SUB-64™ is compatible with all known water based frac fluids, crosslinkers and breakers. It does not adversely affect fluid pH. The use of KCL-SUB-64™ on the fly can eliminate premixing and leftover saltwater disposal problems.

Properties:
Form: Liquid
Color: Clear, colorless
Solubility: Water, acid, brine
Density: 8.5 lbs/US gallons or 1.02 gm/cc.
Charge: Cationic Flash Point: None

Application:
KCL-SUB-64™ should be used at 4.0gal per 1000 gallon of fluid where 2% KCl has been employed. More or less can be used, depending on the clay type and content of the specific zone in question. KCL-SUB-64™  is bio-degradable.

Compatibility:
KCL-SUB-64™ is compatible with cationic and nonionic additives. A compatibility test is advised before use with anionic and amphoteric additives.

Flammable Limits: NA.
Products of Combustion: Not available.
Explosion: Not considered to be an explosion hazard.
Fire Extinguishing Media: CO2, foam, dry chemicals. NOT RECOMMENDED: Do not use direct water jet on burning material.
Special Information: In the event of a fire, wear full protective clothing and NIOSH-approved self-contained breathing apparatus with full face piece operated in the pressure demand or other positive pressure mode. Containers can build up pressure if exposed to heat (fire). As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus pressure-demand (MSHA/NIOSH approved or equivalent) and full protective gear. Apply alcohol-type foam or all-purpose foam manufacturers recommended techniques for large fires. Use carbon dioxide or dry chemical for small fires. Use water spray to keep containers cool. At high temperatures under fire conditions, it may produce toxic or irritating fumes. Fire-extinguishing work is done from the windward and the suitable fire-extinguishing method according to the surrounding situation is used. Uninvolved persons should evacuate to a safe place.

6. Accidental Release Measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment, environmental  precautions and emergency procedures: Avoid breathing dust/fumes/gas/mist/vapors/spray. Use individual protective equipment (waterproof boots, suitable protective clothing, safety glasses, etc). Restrict unprotected personnel from the area. Prevent any contact with hot surfaces. Do not approach facing the wind. Do not touch the spilled material. Keep away from drains, surface and groundwater and soil.
Methods and materials used for containment Cleanup procedures and Storage:
Small Spill: Avoid breathing mist. Ensure adequate ventilation. Use appropriate tools to put the spilled material in a convenient waste disposal container. Dispose of according to local and regional authority requirements.
Large Spill: Contain spilled material. Cover with an inert, non-combustible, inorganic absorbent material, or sweep up, and remove to an approved disposal container. Do not let the product enter drains. Use a shovel to put the material into a convenient waste disposal container.

7. Handling and Storage

Precautions for safe handling: Apply according to good manufacturing and industrial hygiene practices with proper ventilation. Wash thoroughly after handling. Do not drink, eat, or smoke while handling. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing. Use with adequate ventilation. Minimize dust generation and accumulation. Avoid breathing dust/fumes/gas/mist/vapors/spray. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Keep container tightly closed. Avoid ingestion and inhalation. Use individual protective equipment (waterproof boots, suitable protective clothing, safety glasses, etc). Prevent any contact with hot surfaces. Containers of this material may be hazardous when empty since they retain product residues.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities: Store in cool, dry and ventilated area away from heat sources and protected from sunlight in tightly closed original container. Keep air contact to a minimum. Store protected from heat, sparks and ignition sources and incompatible materials. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid inhalation of dust/mist/vapor. Do not store with incompatible materials like strong acids, alkali, or oxidizing agents. Keep away from ignition sources and naked flame.

8. Exposure Controls/Personal Protection

Airborne Exposure Limits: None established.
Ventilation System: A system of local and/or general exhaust is recommended to keep employee exposures as low as possible. Local exhaust ventilation is generally preferred because it can control the emissions of the contaminant at its source, preventing dispersion of it into the general work area.
Personal Respirators (NIOSH Approved): For conditions of use where exposure to dust or mist is apparent and engineering controls are not feasible, a particulate respirator may be worn. For emergencies or instances where the exposure levels are not known, use a full-face positive-pressure, air-supplied respirator.
Skin Protection: Wear protective gloves and clean body-covering clothing.
Eye Protection: Use chemical safety goggles and/or full face shield where dusting or splashing of solutions is possible. Maintain eye wash fountain and quick-drench facilities in work area.
Other Control Measures: Maintain good housekeeping in work area. Dust deposits on floors and other surfaces may pick up moisture and cause the surfaces to become slippery and present safety hazards. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wash hands after handling.
