Dimethylaniline or Dimethyl aniline or N,N-Dimethylaniline is an organic chemical compound, a substituted derivative of aniline. This oily liquid is colorless when pure, but commercial samples are often yellow. It has amine-like odor. It is an important precursor to dyes such as crystal violet. DMA is also used as a precursor to other organic compounds. N,N-Dimethylaniline is used as an intermediate in the manufacture of dyes and other substances. It's melting point is about 2C and boiling point is around 193C-194C with specific gravity around 0.95 to 0.96.
