Calcium benzoate is the calcium salt of benzoic acid. It is used in the food industry as a preservative and its E number is E213. It is approved for use as a food additive in the EU, USA and Australia and New Zealand. It is effective against yeasts, moulds, and certain types of bacteria.

4. First Aid Measures

Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Call a physician immediately.
