3. Composition/Information on Ingredients

Product Name & Other Names: Amoxicillin Trihydrate.
CAS No.: 61336-70-7
EINECS EC Number: 248-003-8 or 933-899-1

4. First Aid Measures

Always seek medical attention after first aid measures are provided.

Eye Contact: Wash out immediately with fresh running water. Ensure complete irrigation of the eye by keeping eyelids apart and away from eye and moving the eyelids by occasionally lifting the upper and lower lids. Seek medical attention without delay; if pain persists or recurs seek medical attention. Removal of contact lenses after an eye injury should only be undertaken by skilled personnel.
Skin Contact: Immediately remove all contaminated clothing, including footwear. Flush skin and hair with running water (and soap if available). Seek medical attention in event of irritation.
Inhalation: Lay patient down. Keep warm and in rest. Prostheses such as false teeth, which may block airway, should be removed, where possible, prior to initiating first aid procedures. Apply artificial respiration if not breathing, preferably with a demand valve resuscitator, bag-valve mask device, or pocket mask as trained. Perform CPR if necessary. Transport to hospital, or doctor, without delay.
Ingestion: If swallowed do NOT induce vomiting. If vomiting occurs, lean patient forward or place on left side (head-down position, if possible) to maintain open airway and prevent aspiration. Observe the patient carefully. Never give liquid to a person showing signs of being sleepy or with reduced awareness i.e., becoming unconscious. Give water to rinse out mouth, then provide liquid slowly and as much as casualty can comfortably drink. Seek medical advice.
Indication of any medical attention and special treatment needed: Treat symptomatically.

5. Fire Fighting Measures

Extinguishing media: Water spray or fog, Foam, Dry chemical powder.
Fire Fighting: Alert Fire Brigade and tell them location and nature of hazard. Wear breathing apparatus plus protective gloves. Prevent, by any means available, spillage from entering drains or water courses. Use water delivered as a fine spray to control fire and cool adjacent area. DO NOT approach containers suspected to be hot. Cool fire exposed containers with water spray from a protected location. If safe to do so, remove containers from path of fire.
Fire/Explosion Hazard: Combustible solid which burns; it is estimated that most organic dusts are combustible - according to the circumstances under which the combustion process occurs, such materials may cause fires and / or dust explosions. Avoid generating dust, particularly clouds of dust in a confined or unventilated space as dusts may form an explosive mixture with air, and any source of ignition, i.e., flame or spark, will cause fire or explosion.
Combustion products: Carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), sulfur oxides, and nitrogen compounds. May emit poisonous and corrosive fumes.
Special Information: In the event of a fire, wear full protective clothing and NIOSH-approved self-contained breathing apparatus with full face piece operated in the pressure demand or other positive pressure mode. At high temperatures under fire conditions, it may produce toxic or irritating fumes. Fire-extinguishing work is done from the windward and a suitable fire-extinguishing method according to the surrounding situation is used. Uninvolved persons should evacuate to a safe place.

6. Accidental Release Measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment, and emergency procedures: Avoid breathing dust/fumes/gas/mist/vapors/spray. Ensure adequate ventilation. Use individual protective equipment (waterproof boots, suitable protective clothing, safety glasses, etc.). Restrict unprotected personnel from the area. Prevent any contact with hot surfaces. Do not approach facing the wind. Do not touch the spilled material.
Environmental precautions: Do not let the product enter drains, soil, or water sources.
Methods and materials used for containment cleanup procedures and Storage:
Minor Spills: Remove all ignition sources. Clean up all spills immediately. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Control personal contact with the substance, by using protective equipment. Use dry clean up procedures and avoid generating dust. Place in a suitable, labeled container for waste disposal.
Major Spills: Alert Emergency Services and tell them location and nature of hazard. Control personal contact by wearing protective clothing. Recover product wherever possible. Contain spilled material. Cover with an inert, non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g., sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite).
IF DRY: Use dry clean up procedures and avoid generating dust. Collect residues and place in sealed plastic bags or other containers for disposal.
IF WET: Vacuum/shovel up and place in labelled containers for disposal.
ALWAYS: Wash area with water and prevent runoff into drains.

7. Handling and Storage

Precautions for safe handling: Apply according to good manufacturing and industrial hygiene practices. Ensure proper ventilation. Wash thoroughly after handling. Do not drink, eat, or smoke while handling. Minimize dust generation. Avoid breathing dust/fumes/gas/mist/vapors/spray. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Keep container tightly closed. Avoid ingestion and inhalation. Use individual protective equipment (waterproof boots, suitable protective clothing, safety glasses, etc.). Prevent any contact with hot surfaces.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities: Store in cool, dry, and ventilated area away from heat sources and protected from sunlight in tightly closed original container. Keep air contact to a minimum. Do not leave the material container open. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid inhalation of dust/mist/vapor. Store protected from heat, sparks and ignition sources and incompatible materials like oxidizers. Storage: 2C to 8C (Refrigerate). Ok to freeze.

8. Exposure Controls/Personal Protection

Airborne Exposure Limits: This product does not contain any hazardous materials with occupational exposure limits established by the region-specific regulatory bodies.
Ventilation System: A system of local and/or general exhaust is recommended to keep employee exposures below the Airborne Exposure Limits. Local exhaust ventilation is generally preferred because it can control the emissions of the contaminant at its source, preventing dispersion of it into the general work area. Please refer to the ACGIH document, Industrial Ventilation, A Manual of Recommended Practices, most recent edition, for details.
Personal Respirators (NIOSH Approved): If the exposure limit is exceeded, a full-face piece respirator with dust/mist filter may be worn. For emergencies or instances where the exposure levels are not known, use a full-face piece positive-pressure, air-supplied respirator. WARNING: Air purifying respirators do not protect workers in oxygen-deficient atmospheres.
Skin Protection: Wear impervious protective clothing, including boots, gloves, lab coat, apron, or coveralls, as appropriate, to prevent skin contact.
Eye Protection: Use chemical safety goggles and/or full-face shield where dusting or splashing of solutions is possible. Maintain eye wash fountain and quick-drench facilities in work area.
Other Control Measures: Maintain good housekeeping in work area. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wash hands after handling.
